ABOUT
Ground survey.
Abhinav works as a Deputy Manager at Eastern Coalfields Limited, a Coal India subsidiary, on the excavation side of an open-cast mine. The role sits where engineering meets paperwork: planning and executing bench-wise excavation, coordinating land acquisition with revenue records, and keeping operations compliant under the Mines Act, 1952, the Mines Rules, 1955, and DGMS oversight.
The academic side runs parallel — a B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and an M.Tech in Power Systems — which shows up less in the pit and more in how the office runs: most of the department's tracking still lived in registers and spreadsheets, so it got rebuilt as small, local, dependency-free web tools instead.
No cloud, no external servers — everything runs on XAMPP inside the office LAN, built with plain PHP, SQLite and JavaScript.
EXPERIENCE
Working levels.
What the job actually covers, day to day — in the field and at the desk.
- Plans and oversees bench-wise excavation in an open-cast coal mine, balancing production targets against safety and slope-stability requirements.
- Coordinates land acquisition with mouza-level revenue records, tracking parcels through the L.A. and gazette notification process.
- Manages regulatory compliance and reporting under the Mines Act 1952, Mines Rules 1955, and DGMS oversight, including the transition to the OSH Code 2020.
- Designs and builds the department's internal digital tools — tracking systems, dashboards, and map-based land records — replacing manual registers.
SKILLS
Strata.
Two layers that don't usually sit together — field engineering and the software that keeps it organised.
PROJECTS
In-house tools.
Departmental software built from scratch, hosted locally on office LAN — no external dependencies.
A full issue-tracking system for the office: nested issues, drag-and-drop priority ranking, directive and follow-up logging, recurring reminders, a document library, and people/department management, with WhatsApp-friendly export for quick sharing.
Public file-tracking via QR codes generated per case, with multi-select mouza and application-type tagging through junction tables, and LAN-accessible tracking links for field reference.
A canvas-based tool for revenue village maps: polygon and flood-fill parcel selection, CSV-driven colour overlays, and mouza-level land parcel tracking for acquisition case work.
A structured record-entry system with a struct-like single-record field model, field-level user permissions, a customisable dashboard with widgets and charts, and a full audit log of every change.
